Case Studies: Strategic Development
Nationwide Community Science Project
Co-founder | Program Director
PROBLEM
Resource managers needed (and continue to need) more support collecting air quality data using lichens. And as a society having more access and understanding to issues in air quality and climate change are needed.
ACTION
Through grassroots and agency partnerships, I designed and created a multi-faceted citizen science project and volunteer program using lichens as biomonitors for air quality on public lands and in urban settings. I have been awarded multiple grants to develop a user-driven digital training toolkit supporting a variety of learning styles which prepares participants for fieldwork in communities disproportionately impacted by poor air quality.
IMPACT
These digital materials are versatile and support diverse audience needs while empowering volunteers on why air quality matters. The training toolkit is custom and has been amended for use at the national level growing the volunteer base and making relevant connections to critical environmental topics. The more collections the more data for resource managers to use to protect our air.
CREATIVE OUTPUTS
The images above and below highlight the volunteer process including fieldwork and the online training. What is not pictured are online events connecting experts with volunteers to discuss critical topics in air quality and resource management.
Partners are the California Lichen Society, Wolf Ridge Environmental Learning Center, and the United States Forest Service National Air Resource Management Program.
Company Culture + People Systems
PROBLEM
A fast-paced early start mission-driven technology company needed to grow a nationwide team from scratch. That team needed onboarding support, benefits, enrichment programs, and a company culture to unite around.
ACTION
In an evolving role I wore many hats developing organizational and functional systems and company culture for fast growth across five offices in four cities. With adaptability, feedback systems, and a nimble mindset, I managed staff productivity and wellbeing, a few office relocations, a multi-million dollar warehouse buildout, hiring sprints, and staff trainings. I cultivated a mission-driven company culture rooted in local food communities and an immersive onboarding program supported by Mission Connection programs linking staff with customers and farmers.
IMPACT
I kept the team happy, productive, informed, and well fed while growing and scaling a company nationwide from 42 people to over 450 within months. Our company culture and enrichment initiatives built lasting relationships, strengthened local food economies, and transformed expectations around foodsystems.
CREATIVE OUTPUTS
The images above show mission connections between staff and farmers. Not pictured are numerous spreadsheets and tracking tools custom designed to support continuous, agile transformation across several cities and hundreds of people.

Revived Youth Programming to Grow Audience
Senior Programs Manager
PROBLEM
Historic and cultural museums needed to revive youth and family programming as programs lacked vision and creativity.
ACTION
I conceptually conceived and produced a monthly engagement program that brought people of all ages to investigate researched topics and narratives of the American West and Los Angeles. Concept briefs and visitor research supported experience development frameworks to ensure dynamic outcomes. I also designed evaluative frameworks which provided key metrics to ensure aims were successfully met.
IMPACT
This immersive program aimed to put the public in the driver’s seat of their own experiences. With collection-focused gallery experiences supported by accessible experts and custom-designed interactive activity guides, attendance and memberships increased.
